The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning Cinemax Special
The clips below are from the Cinemax TV special for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. This is quite a macabre scene but as an editor it is a great challenge to get to work on a piece like this. In a horror piece the editing is very visceral and stands out more than it would in most other genres. It is the editor's chance to control the emotions of the audience with each edit in a very objective manor. For example a quick cut from a frightened face to a huge guy jumping out of the bushes with a chainsaw, mixed with a loud noise, can visibly effect someone. These reasons are why this Cinemax special continues to stand up as some of my best work.
