A couple of factors contributed to the idea for Treasure Trove. My friend Michael Maloney told me about some rich guy who had hidden a bunch of amulets and golden eggs and whatnot in various places throughout the country. He had subsequently released a book that had clues on how to find these things. So Michael was talking about us going out to the desert (where he thought one of these hidden gems might be) on a treasure hunt.
I thought this would be a great thing to film so I asked Greg O'Bryant to come along for the ride with the idea that we could make a movie out of our trip.
We never ended up going, but the seed was planted. The other factor that contributed to the idea was an abandoned water park
between L.A. and Vegas and how funny we thought it would be to have two
guys dressed to hit the slides in front of a water park that is closed.
Greg ended up writing a script and we got some people together to go out and shoot the film.
